Christel Schubert’s book is the work of her sister, who was five years older and born in Stettin in 1935. She passed away in 2019. Ten years before her death, she wrote down her childhood memories in chronological order. The resulting narrative sheds light on the years from 1935 to 1949, focusing in particular on the family’s fate during the wartime period in Stettin and their flight to Berlin.
